Hinton, Alberta… In the face of climate change and carbon emission regulations, Alberta’s resource-based industries will begin to rely on the estimation of forest growth and yield to demonstrate sustainability, and to derive/trade carbon credits.
To help raise the profile of growth and yield, and its link to carbon, the Alberta Forest Growth Organization (AFGO) has announced two workshops as a lead-up to their fall conference “Forestry and Energy – Growing Towards a Carbon Neutral Alberta”. This conference will engage Alberta’s resource management sectors to identify and prioritize the most urgent emerging issues requiring forest growth expertise and technology.
- Workshop #1 will be held January 20th, 2010. More information and registration details can be found here: http://foothillsresearchinstitute.ca/pages/Education_Events/Workshops.aspx?id=1694
- Workshop #2 will be held May 6th, 2010. More information can be found here: http://foothillsresearchinstitute.ca/pages/Education_Events/Workshops.aspx?id=1692
- The fall conference is currently slated for October 19-21, 2010. More information can be found here: http://foothillsresearchinstitute.ca/pages/Education_Events/default.aspx?id=1696
